About Breathing Space

Breathing Space forms part of the Early Help offer in Lancashire within the Children and Family Wellbeing Service and aims to listen, support and work alongside parents who have experienced a child being removed from their care and to give them a chance to take control over their lives.

Breathing Space supports parents during the weeks and months following their child being removed from their care by attempting to resolve past problems and trauma and addressing current challenges to build resilience and to make and sustain positive changes in their lives.

The programme aims to provide a collaborative and tailored approach, focussing on the individual needs of the parent.

Breathing Space will work with parents intensively for up to two years, to ensure they have the support they need to access services and community organisations.

Breathing Space will offer parents the time and space to build a nurturing relationship with a Senior Family Support Worker, empowering them to make significant changes in their lives and work towards a positive and successful future.
